Today I want to post some smoothie recipes but first of all I will explain what’s a smoothie.

It’s prepared with a blander, but isn’t a milkshake and it is not even a centrifuge, but a more creamy and velvety drink, based on fruit or vegetables with the addition of a liquid, which makes it denser then a milkshake but also more fluid than a simple fruit puree.
If you then prepare it with iced fruit in the fridge or with the addition of some ice cubes it also become refreshing.

  • strawberry and mint smoothie

(Ingredients for 2 servings)

– 8 ounces strawberries
– 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
– 1 cup milk (skim, reduced fat, or whole)
– 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
– leaves fresh mint

Place all ingredients in a high powered blender. Process until fully blended and smooth. Taste test and adjust ingredients, if necessary. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

  • Carrot Smoothie

(Ingredients for 2 servings)

– 1 1/2 cups Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice
– 12 ice cubes (more or less depending on how thin/thick you like it)
– 1/2 cup pineapple chunks (frozen)
– 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract or 1 scoop vanilla – protein powder
– 1/4 cup walnut halves
– 1/4 cup flake coconut (we used sweetened)
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– Optional garnish: chopped walnuts (flake coconut, cinnamon, shredded carrots)

  • Apple, Pear and Banana smoothie

– 1 ripe banana, peeled and diced
– 1 apple, peeled, cored and coarsely diced
– 2 ripe pears, peeled, cored and coarsely diced
– 1 tablespoon low fat greek yogurt
– 2 glasses of milk
– 2 glasses cold water

1. Peel, core and dice your banana, apple and pears.
2. Combine all ingredients and pop into blender
– blend until smooth.
3. Serve over ice in tall glasses.

( if you don’t like apple or pear or banana, you can remove 1 fruit and do it only with the 2 fruit remaining…ex. Apple and pear)

  • Mango and passion fruit smoothie

(Ingredients for 4 servings)

– 400g/14oz peeled and chopped ripe mango
– 2 x 125g pots fat-free mango yogurt
– 250ml skimmed milk
– juice 1 lime
– 4 passion fruits, halved

Whizz the mango, yogurt and milk together in a blender until smooth. Stir in the lime juice, then pour into 4 glasses. Scoop the pulp of a passion fruit into each one, and swirl before serving.

That’s all for today. I hope you like these recipes and if you want more let me know.
